Theresa Byrnes-Cordas | Vice President

Theresa Byrnes-Cordas has been a horse lover for as long as she can remember and a devoted fan of horse racing since Secretariat captured the Triple Crown in 1973. Her connection to racing began at an early age through her grandfather, who had worked as one of Man o' War's stable boys and introduced her to the sport when she was 12 years old.
Born in North Carolina and raised in Flushing, Queens, New York, Theresa later made Colorado her home for many years before returning to North Carolina, where she now lives with her husband, Steve.
Theresa brings more than 26 years of business and insurance experience to Jockey Relief Alliance, having built and owned her own insurance agency. Her professional background has given her extensive experience in business operations, customer relationships, marketing and communications.
Before joining Jockey Relief Alliance, Theresa served as a committee member with Jockeys and Jeans, where she became actively involved in fundraising, event planning and efforts supporting permanently disabled jockeys. That experience deepened her respect for jockeys as extraordinary athletes and strengthened her commitment to supporting members of the racing community.
As Vice President of Jockey Relief Alliance, Theresa works alongside the President and Board in the development and direction of the organization. She also oversees JRA's media, communications, website and social media efforts, helping build awareness of the organization's mission and the jockeys it serves.
Theresa is passionate about Jockey Relief Alliance's mission to provide timely assistance to active jockeys facing unexpected hardship and is honored to help build an organization dedicated to being there when jockeys need support most.
